DC46 vs Off Tackle in Twins (help!)
« on: September 01, 2015, 10:02:31 AM »
Had our first game.  We lost.  Our only weakness was off tackle and they exploited the hell out of it.  Here is the formation they ran at us...

......O............OOOOO...........O
.............O.........O
........................O
........................O

They ran the TB off the left tackle with the FB lead blocking

Chris has WR
Will has Slot
Right DT is tilted and taking away A and B gaps

DE is covering sweep and being blocked by FB.  Sometimes he beats the block and sometimes he does not...

Who should primary Off Tackle assignment?  Should it be Mike (shifting over to behind right DT)?

Your Mike in the 40 tech should be eating that up by filling inside the DE or outside the tackle butt. Unless your tilt is not good and the Tackle is blocking him. Should be easy read by that 40 tech and DE. If the RB goes outside, DE ricochets and makes tackle, if inside 40 tech fills inside.

As per the DC46 manual page 38, Sam has no WR on the left side so he should move to the right and key 1st back out to that side.  The RE should attack the lead block from the FB, spilling the HB, and then ricochet to the HB with SAM pursuing toward the right sideline.

Somebody should be behind both DT's.  You still have two LB's.

Thanks guys!  That was the problem.  Mike was not shifting behind DT.  My fault for not teaching that better.  Have been repping it.  They will get it right next game.  Just in time, because our next opponent apparently runs tons of off tackle.
