Horrible Weather

Joe

What do you do in horrible weather when it effects the dynamics of the timing...ie...the snap is slower....the players weigh an extra 12 pounds.... the football weighs an extra 3 pounds....the field is standing water and the football gets knocked down in the driving rain?

Im thinking I made a mistake going 100% shotgun. No clue how this style of Offense will be effected in a blizzard.

Any thoughts?

It says you run multiple on offense.  Put in a wedge series under center.  If talent and time allows you could put in another type series that is essentially the same for the players but just changes who gets the ball kind of like Dave Cisar's burst series.   It goes in real quick backs all do the same with some blocking tags. I just relied I'm not Joe. oops

If any thing goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, we did it. If anything goes really good, then you did it. That's all it takes to get people to win football games for you.

2 hand snap for gun and that locked wrist grip the point of the ball gun snap for pistol.

I'm not Joe butttttt....when we made a ln eastern region run we were in upstate NY a lot and in November we were lucky to have less then 2 inches of something on the ground.

We also rotated gloves for all specialty players and our center.

This is one of the subjects that I think often gets overlooked. I have repeatedly had this conversation with many youth coaches. IMHO you must first teach the offense UTC. This applies to the Youth Game. That is not to say we don't teach UTC at the HS level, simply that for Youth it's best done first. Last season I warned coaches to follow this plan. Those that did had very good success those who didn't fell apart.

Weather is one reason, Red Zone (either way), 4 minute offense, & Short yardage are some others. I know many times many teams will not have an UTC package & it boggles my mind. I think every coach needs a full tool box.

Once taught UTC it is very simple to adapt to Gun or Pistol. When faced with horrible weather or any number of other obstacles that may happen it's is important to have an answer.
