Well the end to a horrible season is over
« on: October 16, 2016, 05:12:09 PM »
BUT - I gave the boys a chance to do their own thing offensively for the last game.

What I gave them was this offense - well most of it as I didn't have time to get the screens installed.

We lost, not simply because of this offense - we had a LOT of other issues -  but we passed for about 100 yards in the first 2.5 quarters of the game.

I'll put together the offensive clips - the good, the bad, the ugly and get them to Clark.

But it was fun, and these were 8 year olds who got about 2 hours to learn the offense or the parts I had time to teach.  They called their own plays and routes, no huddle, for the duration of the game on offense. It wasn't perfect by any means but it was amazing what they could do with such little practice time - after the game of course every single parent and relative asked me why we hadn't been doing something like this all season.

Again, didn't install the screens, nor did we really install the run for the QB but did a motion call for the WB to block or to get the ball.

That's very good for 8's!   :)

If any thing goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, we did it. If anything goes really good, then you did it. That's all it takes to get people to win football games for you.

Here's another:

This was our 1st year for the killer bee last year we gave up over 150 pts and this year with the KB we only allowed 28 pts.  This D is the real deal built for a team that is not full of blue chippers.  I wish I would have found this scheme a few years ago.  We ended the year 8-3 in the 2nd round of the play-offs barring injuries may have went farther.

I also want to give kudos to the DC run and shoot.  We lost our stud lineman before the play-offs to a bike wreck.  We installed the run and shoot in 4 practices.  In the 1st round of the play-offs we scored 45 points on the team who has won or been in the championship since 1st grade.  Could not do anything with this O.

Clark is a genius!!!  Thanks for making this a great year of football!!
