Making Drill Cards like Cisar
« on: December 09, 2016, 09:52:32 AM »
So Coach Cisar has some nice drill cards for his system. I think it's something I need to do so my AC do things the right way. My first idea is to do them as PPT slides and print with multiple slides per page. Cut them out and laminate them. I would need to track down cone, player and other stuff for clip art to use.

Has anyone done this? What has worked or not worked for you?

I do our drills on PowerPoint slides.  I use small orange circles for cones.  Bold letter "C" for coaches and X's and O's for the players.  I put in a section for each drill that describes the drill, coaching points and purpose for the drill.  I think that I lifted much of it from here already.

I use PowerPoint. I'll use the computer for the stuff that's easier on computer. Then I'll print it and draw in the rest by hand. Then I'll scan it back onto the computer. For me, it beats trying to make PowerPoint work for every bit of it.

Would be interested in seeing your drills, if you are willing to share. I tend to fly by the seat of my pants, recycling drills. Would love to get some new ideas.

I don't know that I have your email address or I could have lost it.  Just PM me and I will send over what I have.  I don't think that there are any secrets in there and it is not exactly in a state that it is worth money.  :)

Just a thought print them on card stock as its thicker and then cut and laminate or just slip into a sheet protector and put in a 1/2 inch 3 ring binder.

Maybe we start a new thread with nothing but each others drills attached.  I will try to post when I get home to the computer with my drills.

In the past I've used PowerPoint, but I always felt some coaches (based on experience) can misinterpret the best way to execute the drill. So this spring we are recording quick 1-2 min videos for each drill we do so they can be categorized and made available to all coaches on our organizations website (coach tool box). Each video is formatted 1) name of drill 2) how to setup & purpose 3) key coaching points 4) demo.   The goal is to standardize drills and terminology as kids progress through the different levels.

Why don't we have a post like this in the sticky section? Everyone has this stuff... why are we making our own crap anymore?

How come I don't have a copy? I mean, I haven't asked for one, didn't know it existed, but jeez, you should have read my mind and sent it already!  :)

We need to clear an afternoon and talk some football over some beers at B-Dubs or somewhere like that.  I need to pick your brain and get some sh*t on paper...

From just south of Worcester. I harass my friend from Tynsboro for his team's film and drills, but haven't met him. We run a Calande based DW

Ah.  Sounds familiar, I think I might have realized that based on comments during the season.

Well, depends on how much you'll interfere with me getting what I need from patsfat.   :)

Jeez - between you, me, patsfat, shaggydog, and UCS, we could have a damn clinic...assuming I haven't forgotten anyone...

You going to Tito's Wing T hybrid thing in New Britain?

Come on, there's an easy system:

Thinks Brady is Jesus, and was totally screwed in deflategate: New England except for the part of Connecticut that goes for the Giants and Jets.

Thinks it was just the 485th time the Patriots have cheated like hell, only a few of which involved them getting caught:  From somewhere else.

;)
