So here's the summer workout for the HS team

I was passed over for the HC position and my opinion was not asked for on the summer S&C program. Here is the program that will be used.

Monday:
1. Bench
2A. Barbell shrugs
2B. Neck machine
3. Hanging leg raise
4. Incline press
5. Dips to failure
6. SA Incline press
7. Situps on GH bench

Wednesday:
1. Squat
2. Front squat (@ 75% of back squat)
3. BO Row
4. Pullups to failure
5. SA DB row
6. Wide grip lat pulldowns
7. Walking lunges
8. SL DL w/DB

Friday:
1. CGBP
2. Upright row
3. Clean & Press
4. GHRs
5. Seated press
6. "Bus Drivers"
7. BB Reverse lunge w/knee lift
8. One arm DB swing
9. Glute bridge

Everything is 5x5 unless otherwise noted.
Try to increase at least 5# each week.

This was "developed" by the HC and the DC (who is also the PE/weight training teacher.

I sometimes wonder after being involved in this as long as I have, what some people think when they attempt to put a S&C program together. As much against the BFS program that I am, even that would be better than this.

No periodization. No percentage based training. No explosive training. No jumps. No plyometrics. No concept of training the proper energy system.

Then teams wonder why they finish 0-9 or 2-7.

Thats a tough sell... these "muscle and fitness" programs dont work or if they do are not optimal.

We used a stupid simple progression for the last 2 blocks and the feedback was awesome.
