During the season I def tried enhancing each coach's game day contributions. I gave them each tasks I felt they could handle and went from there. However aside from AC1 there were consistent breakdowns on that front so that is def one of the things we will be addressing this offseason.

A good reason to become the Floater. It really does wonders for those of us that must coach up our coaches. Now you can coach them up while they are actually coaching.

Def agree with this. AC1 is my DC so that's already the case - we run Joe's 4-4 and ran it well this past season.

We also do the Glazier Staff pass - I usually attend 2-3 but expect our staff to attend one together. Last year myself, ACs 1 & 2 went.

AC 3 wasn't with us yet; ACs 4 & 5 were on the 12U staff at the time and along with the rest of the 10U (0-fer season) and 12U (couldn't field a team) staffs elected not to go. They have each already been informed that that along w our monthly meetings will be mandatory and that if they do not attend, they will not be on our staff in 2018.

The in game stuff takes time. I know it did for me. It is hard not to be a spectator when you first start. especially if you have a kid playing. Watching film together can help.

Remember that many others read these things. Lurkers and regulars and the good ole boys as well.

I notice you get pissed about threads getting derailed. I get it. This is thread that has a direction you need it to go because it is unique to you. The sidebar does have value though. Remember that many others read these things. Lurkers and regulars and the good ole boys as well. I doubt you would want anyone who sees a problem to not comment on it. Your op about the coach in question (the whole back when I coached guy) was a little misleading. He isn't the guy some of us thought he was. Good.

Yeah, I admit I had a reaction. TBH I'm still frustrated and ticked off with how our season ended so that prob came through in a few of my responses here.

I'm ok with your reaction. You got it back on track before it got completely derailed.

Good Coaches are hard to find.  Keeping them Around is even harder.

I have had a few Dad's who did take to somethings very well and stayed with me all through their players career.  A long while back I was also blessed to work with 2 other former headers on one staff.  Did we butt heads?  Yup, sometimes the wrong page was dog eared.  We never got personal and never discussed it in from of the players.

To DP's point if they are willing to work as a team for the betterment of the team I'm all for staying on.  At the same time, I have worked with folks who dont care about anyone but themselves and THEIR, often misguided concept of  Daddy Ball

Not MPP... ONE TASK!  Teach them!  :)

My DC started out as a daddy-baller but when his son moved on, dad stayed with us.  He was my DC for 9 years.

I don't care what a coach knows, or doesn't know.  I'm looking for three things when I contemplate taking someone on our staff:

Are they responsible?

Are they ethical?

Are they teachable?

The percentage of men that I've seen in the coaching realm that fit these three criteria shouldn't be as slim as it is.

Urge him and the rest of your staff to become members here.

I have in the past but before I do that again, can we get someone to remove this thing?
