Flyfishing with the Sheriff
« on: April 30, 2018, 12:51:33 PM »
Got invited to a guided fly fishing trip this weekend. Great opportunity to learn and get better at a tough endeavor. When I got to the outfitter, I shook hands with the main guide, Mike, whom I've met before. Mike introduced me to "Parker", the other guide. "Parker" was none other than Scott Parker, aka "The Sheriff", former enforcer for the Colorado Avalanche and one of the most feared brawlers in the NHL.  Great day on the water with a cool dude.

Did ya ask for some pointers?

Ya know grab the front of the jersey with the Left and Push Pull your Jab?
Wash the face with the Palm of your Glove.
Always Make Sure the Helmet comes off BEFORE you throw the Right Hand!
When All else fails, Pull the Jersey over their head!!

Last one is very important.  If you know you're going to get your Ass Kicked, keep the Linesmen between you!

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!    8)
Not MPP... ONE TASK!  Teach them!  :)

I used to be heavy into flyfishing in the early 2000s. Tied my own flies and still have a library of books. Definitely need to pick that up again somewhere along the line.

There's something about a river in the mountains . . .

I spent 10 years OBSESSED with fly fishing! I spent twice as many hours tying flies as I did fishing but that was all part of the game. I even built a rod once. I live in a part of the world that has a ton of blue ribbon water close to home. I made several trips to the salt as well. I still maintain that the best 30 seconds of my life was spent buttoned up to a striped marlin on the fly!

Then I discovered the world of tournament bass fishing....gambling and fast boats! I spent another 9 years addicted to that game. I'm working the 12 steps to recovery now but will likely always be addicted to that drug.
