Belly vs. Jet
« on: August 07, 2018, 05:49:42 PM »
Just some more random questions. What is the key difference between these two series? In looking at it, it appears as if the Belly series is an option series, but I'm not sure what else. The manual states:

"In the jet series the offense primarily runs left until the defense follows the WB in motion, at which point it primarily runs right using either the SE or HB as ball carriers."

Does that mean the attacks/plays in the Jet aren't as balanced? Many previous posters have advocated running Belly 23/24/25/26, with either the WB or HB acting as option back. How would these plays differ if run from Jet?

I am also not all that confident in calling for an actual option play to be run, but the Belly is dependent upon the defense actually expecting the option. Personally, I love the option as we ran it in high school (Veer), but my numbers aren't very high and some of these DEs could end up crushing my QB. Would it be prudent to just run Fake 33, 17 (or 47) Option once to the left and say 38 Option once to the right early on and call it a day as far as options go, just to keep the defense honest?

What do others think about the choice between Belly and Jet?

Belly or orbit motion is option or toss, you also set up great counters like left 32, left 56.

Jet is "jet" and reverse , also good is yoyo and 23/5 power, power screen is great too from jet.

Jet is a faster teach than Option.  To invest an hour to run a play once is not good use of time.
