Pop Warner going to allow Unlimited at Nationals?
« on: May 20, 2019, 04:32:33 PM »
Any of you hear if PW is going to allow unlimited at Natuonals accross all age levels? I swear every time I got a team that can get there, some weird crap happens that’s out of my control. lol

I’m all for unlimited btw. Would just be kind of a bummer if we couldn’t go becaus of it.

Don't know about unlimited.  I know D3 will no longer go.  But what's in it for you?  I mean, it's always seemed to be important to you to go, but you always seem to be in a league/conference/division that isn't eligible.  You're more than good enough to coach a national championship team but the only thing you can do is win the games on your schedule.

Considering how many orgs made the switch,  I would be shocked if unlimited isn't at nationals.

Well, since my son is on the team, would be a really fun experience for our family. My oldest son should have gone, but got burned.

Aside from that, as a competitor you always want to face the best. We’d be HEAVY underdogs cuz we’d likely go in D1 & many of my best players are small & one year younger than division limit. But that would also add to the fun.

Lastly it would be great for our ORG. The recruiting just coming off a local D1 title has gone well, I imagine we’d see quite the uptick if we went to Florida.

Oh also one of my best players dad works in the NBA. And this will almost certainly be their last season in our area. So would be nice to go this year while they’re still here.

That’s what i’m hoping. Seems like they have to, but I could see them just settling w/ a diluted tournament.

A tournament with pretty much the entire state of Florida and the West Coast not taking apart of? Nah, I just don't see it.

We are a D3 program that is going unlimited across all levels.  My understanding is that Orlando is for everyone under the old weight limits, but I dont know how the traditional unlimited class is considered now.  We are capped out at states now.

I was told no D3 will be invited to Disney now due to the inclusion of Unlimited weight classes.

D3 is now only a regional division.

I’m gonna guess that Unlimited will be there, but wont be televised. I think they’re worried about the perception of the giant kid vs the little kid.

The quality of talent in unlimited is gonna be insane tho. Think about all the mergers that must be happening around the country. Then you got areas like Hawaii who are gonna roll out a bunch of giant samoans that we’ve never seen play in the tourney.

Then you MIGH have my team of quick scrappt little guys that are a year younger than everyone. lol. Bunch of ankle biters. I’m excited for the challenge tho.

They already show unlimited on the ESPN Ap and I would be surprised if they don't show at least 1 unlimited weight championship game. They need to embrace unlimited weight, not shy away from it.

Goodness gracious, not being televised would be a blessing.  First of all, you don’t have the “sideline reporter” trying to get a word with you.  “Coach, we’re going to give you a headset and ask you a few questions at halftime.”  Uh, no you’re not.  “Coach, we’d like one of our inarticulate idiots in the booth have an opportunity to talk with you before the 2nd Half kick-off.”  Leave me alone and get off my sideline.  “Congratulations on the great win, Coach.  Can we ask you a few questions?”  No.

I def would not allow questions on my sideline. After the game they can interview my O-line.

They should but doesn’t mean they will. They’ve just been selling this weight reatricted stuff for so long, gonna be a major backpedal.
