Angle to the Ball on a Kickoff and Punting
« on: April 21, 2012, 08:10:25 AM »
I was wondering if there is a certain angle you want to take/have in comparison to the ball.I know you may say "well this depends on how many steps you take to set up, as well as what style you use to kick."

It seems like kids, and also when I've tried myself, you orient yourself to think you have to bend your body. What I mean is, because you're not facing straight down the field but somewhere at the sideline. It seems like you have to turn and twist your body in order to end up facing straight down the field.

And on punting, how should your foot placement be? All I've ever known is hitting it off of the end of your foot a little bit.

I found this on YouTube:

Kicking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yseOTAHP1Y4&feature=related

Punting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3t-iMvCcXu4

Try a search on placekicking and punting on YouTube, they have tons of videos demonstrating techniques.

Hope this helps,
