Clinic with DumCoach Regulars
« on: December 03, 2012, 02:26:09 PM »
Hello All,

Many thanks to Clark for hosting this forum.   It has taught me a great deal and I have met some great people.

In that vein, I have ventured to host a coaching clinic this spring featuring some of the best coaches from this board whom I have had the privledge of speaking to offline and in private messages and have come to respect a great deal and learn from as well.

In future I wouldn't mind having clinics with some other coaches from these boards as well whom I respect greatly.    There are many others here who fit that bill.

Presenting from Boards will be:

CoachDP   -   Dave Potter
MHCoach   -  Joe Cianflone
Mahonz    - Mike Mahoney
Michael  - Michael O'Gorman
Myself  - Daniel Lyons

The clinic will be all day on Sat. March 16th at Judson University in Elgin, IL at a cost of $75.   Lunch will be included in price.   If you show up at the door price is $85 and there is no lunch - I have to have a head count for the lunch.   We will all be eating lunch together and can continue to talk football during lunch.

You must register by end of February to get lunch.

The University is about 40 minutes drive West of O'hare Airport in Chicago.

There will be specific system and scheme talk - but my hope is that we will also be bringing diverse ideas and specific methods of making you a successful coach regardless of scheme.

Building aggression, practice pace and planning, fundamentals, discipline, parent issues, Building Mojo, play calling, audibles, etc.   I plan on learning myself and am quite looking forward to it.

After party at Tilted Kilt and rooms are blocked off at Comfort sweets details at below link:

That's part of what is going to be so cool - meeting so many people from the boards.

I say we all go out for drinks afterwards and hang out for a bit and maybe have dinner and continue the discussion and debates.   That's opitional though.

I can look into some local places for that as well.

Only so many people on Earth who are as obsessed with coaching as the people here.

Why not get them together I thought?   Kind of a DumCoach convention.

I can't even think of going, especially during that time of the year. however, I do think it is a great idea.

Hopefully, next year, building on the success of this clinic, you can take the clinic on the road. To other areas of the country.

Or give other coaches on the forum a blueprint, because there is enough coaches to hold several on the same weekend in diffent areas of the country.

I know I would love to attend a Dumcoach Forum Clinic, over anyother that is out there.

Maybe it will work out where you can go.   Never know what future holds.

If people show up and there is demand I will take the show on the road.   It's a first time deal so I have no idea how many people will come.    Taking a risk there.

Should be a good time during and after how ever many come.

Dan

5 1/2 hours from my house. I intend to be there. Gotta clear that weekend off from work first. Been here 18 years but the one guy that likes that weekend off has 3 years on me.  :-X Will know for sure in a few days.

If there is enough out of state or far away demand I can call some hotels and block off some rooms for a group rate and save you guys some money.

Let me know that you registered and are coming from out of town and want a blocked off room.   Or heck maybe you just want a nice night in hotel - I know I would.

If we get 10 or more of those - I can get you a 15% discount on the normal room rate.   Called a few chains.

I'll plan to block it off for the 15th and 16th of March.   (Friday and Sat.)
