Free Introduction to 46 GUTS document
« on: June 16, 2013, 06:33:12 PM »
HERE YA GO, THIS IS WHAT I AM GIVING TO MY NEWBIE ASSISTANTS.

Ill add to it as I have time, but for now...this is where I am...It is not meant to be a coaching manual, just an introduction.

If you want to learn to actually COACH and run the 46, the Gamber materials that I sell (manual, dvds, clinic dvds, linebacker and end manual) are the place to go. This will give you some idea of what its all about though.

Well,  Heres what we plan to use at some point...

Fire/flame
falcon right, falcon left
moose right, moose left
wolf right, wolf left
shark right, shark left
(add heels) any of the calls to run the heel line on the weak side...in this defense, either the shark or wolf can be a heel line player on the weak side c gap...

bat
bat x  (loops with the spur)

nut, tun, twister, texas (which our kids struggled with last year for some crazy reason)
stone
double stone
stab
double stab

spy
ice
victory
ninja (victory ice)

we have those special calls, shins and pile.

Less is more, run the base, contain the ball and let your guys go get it.

So did you not like the GAMBLER or MIKE GAMBLER look?????  Is it necessary to lose these with GUTS or can I decide to keep what I think will give opponents in my league fits???

The stuff I really liked and intended to keep was

DRAGON FIRE/FLAME (FRED crash L/R and Lion/Raptor still contain)

GAMBLER (USE FOR UNDER CENTER QB'S WITH WEAK OR SMALL CENTERS)

MIKE GAMBLER (SAME AS ABOVE)

FREAK

GAMBLER NUKE (BRING EVERYBODY)

STONE/DOUBLE STONE

ICE

TOUGH CALLS (PUT MIKE/FRED AS 40 TECH LB'S VERSUS DBL TIGHT ACE LOOKS)

TORPEDO

HAWK

VICTORY

Yeah, we will use Gambler, its a good look. Tuff, we will use that.  We will also use HAMMER which is one of my favorite calls...with the right kind of Falcon.

I always liked the Freak shift but we havent used that since I havent been the DC

Hammer is a call taken from the "2 level defense"where the free safety is at 25 yards deep defending an imaginary line 18 yards deep. We dont bother with the whole imaginary line thing but you do get some great hits vs the fade.

Btw, I think if you do what we did at Boothbay in 08, you can add FIST as a "call"...get into the 353 stack and play cover 3, send two of the 5 backers every down ....with zone behind it...if your corners and spurs will come up and make plays you can have alot for teams to prepare for.

Its alot...but its fun anyhow.
