Day 9

We had a rough scrimmage and we started and stayed with aggression at the first level today.

We did 20 min of sled work head up and shaded both sides
- emphsized fast feet
- hard pops
- drive with power steps

Went into 9 v 7 run after it...looked like a whole new team

Our sled session was nothing short of me being in there face challenging them ripping them for more n more effort. Prasing the best one in each group.

We migrated back under center thank god and it was a thing of beauty.

Live n learn.  Zone combos are tough when you want solid doubles.  But when you cant get off the double it sucks.

Suggestion

Man block for a practice or two
then re teach combos or get away and put in chip n climb

Used the chip and climb yesterday. Kids did really well with it. Still a little confusion when people start moving around on the d. Told the kids if you get confused just step to your gap and if someone is there take them otherwise climb. Also used the flipper for the chip block on the way to climb. The larger blocking surface seemed to make for a more effective chip.

Heres how we do it.
- every one must end up on someone eventually

Half line 4 v 4

-----------------40
-----0------3---------9
-----c----g----t---y

We do 3 modes

A. Offense 3/4 defense is frozen
- get to your guy...count correctley... I should see a check by pst on 3 or 9 tech
b. Offense  full speed defense 2 steps
- defensive line takes 2 steps forward linebacker can take 2 step either direction
- nothing should change but speed between a. And b.
c.full speed both sides
- turns into half line slow oklahoma
- that tackle better finish on the 40 tech dont care where

In your example above wouldn't guard have 3 tech on his own and uncovered tackle would check on 9 and climb if he doesn't show?

Same premise as regular slow oklahoma except they dont push down field

We are running slide pass pro now as most of our pass game will be play action oriented. We can drop back and go back to pocket pro at any time.
