Question about the Killer Bee
« on: June 13, 2019, 10:45:39 PM »
From everything that I've read about the Killer Bee, I'm definitely interested in ordering information about it. However, my league has a rule that prevents me from lining up DL in the "A" Gap (LB's can be over the center but must be at least 5 yards off the ball). Would I be able to tweak the Bee to comply with this rule (which I am not a big fan of)?

Thank you in advance for your response(s)!

Unless something's changed, the last time we ran it, we had our defensive guards lined up as 2 techs, over the OGs.

Are you allowed to blitz A gap? Are linemen allowed to slant?
We ran a 2 tech and also would slant out to B gap as we are not allowed in A until 3rd grade.

Terry,  My league has the same rule thru 3rd grade.  We ran the bee successfully for several years.  Just align them as tight as possible as 2 techs and remind them to hit the OG on their way in to the A-gap.

Just dug up the 2014 manual. It calls for slanted 2 techs.

Yes, sir. We can slant. I ran a 4-4 Stack last year and slanted the 2 tech's out. It worked well most of the time, but we gave up some long drives.

Best decision you have made today  :)
KB is a fun defense. You will have offenses scratching their heads.   I would recommend it to any team that I don't play against.
