Coached Defense, now OL coach, need some help
« on: May 20, 2011, 08:00:46 AM »
I've been the DC for my 10-11 yo. team the past 2 years. Now I have been asked to coach the O Line. The HC wants to see if we can zone block. I played defense my HS and college days and too long ago when I played offense in peewee. In the past years, just from hearing the OC instructing players, it was you block this guy and you block this guy, etc. If anyone has some simple/basic info on zone blocking I would greatly appreciate it.

You can get 15,000 answers to this question.  Ultimately, you are going to have to decide what you would like to implement.  Check out  They have tons of free stuff on zone (and all things OL).

There are also some good threads on here and over on coach huey's site on zone blocking.

Once you have an idea of what you want to do, start asking specific questions and pick the brains of guys that have ran zone schemes before.
