73-Bandit - Sweep killer

Been a while since I posted about this, but as I have "looped" back around to the younger guys we are back to using the trusted and true 7-3.  It allows you to shield three "hiders" while stuffing the middle, and allows you to control the edge with your very best tacklers.  It has been a miracle worker for us over the years and really confuses the heck out of other coaches who have never seen it before.  Easy to teach... three practices and you have it installed.

Now this is a YOUTH level defense... good through 4th grade or so... kids who can really throw well or run the wishbone option pitch will kill it, but at the younger 2-3-4th grades, those kids are very few and far between.  It is basically a great goal line defense when your kids get older... but a killer defense at the youth level.

If you want the basics, there is a good intro online on article base (see link below), and a full tutorial over on Coaches-Clinic.com.  Let me know if you have any questions!
