offset pistol

I have noticed that quite a few teams are offsetting the pistol back by a half step (auburn, Ohio state, Clemson etc) what is the importance our added advantage of this?

For me i like to offset because it helps get the fb lead on jet sweep and sets him up nicely for zone read or counter.

Sometimes the qb has reads, so the off-set can be a give or keep, and they like the back to cross their face for thw hand off or for play action which gets the D to bite, also good for counters too jmo

We used the off set to force the defense to make an adjustment. Also it allowed our backs to have better leverage at the POA. We ran triple out of two back off set pistol (Coach Pratley's Silencer) with great results. The problem was that most teams didn't know how to line up to the formation. We was able to run our whole offense from that formation along with motion tags. I love what I see teams doing right now from it tho.
