Who is H looking to block ? The DE ?

Guard kicks, H wraps tight and looks inside. If your fake is great, he'll get Will. Otherwise he'll get Mike.

Got it so just like RB counter blocking.

How far do you put Z outside of H ?

Yup. Counter is counter regardless of formation. Really like Q counter from Empty as well.

He's pretty close. Maybe 18-24" split.

Need help on QB footwork for counter when not reverse pivoting. Opening like IZ yes then what is the proper footwork for the hand of ? Was working on it yesterday and it did not seem to flow or hide the ball well.

The footwork would be done by the back, the QB takes the same path and just hands it off on the back side. At least that is how I am going to teach it.

Are you asking about Tailback counter or something else? Who is getting the ball and who is faking IZ?

Stop asking questions that make sense!

I think the OP really needs to clearer than it is, but I have a feeling it doesn't matter.

Sorry. The QB action. Not the TB. It wasn't fluid when we I was trying to install it. Same footwork as IZ for QB and he just puts the ball out to the other side ? Was looking at MH's power point but didn't see an answer. Maybe I was just over complicating it which confused the kids. Does the QB put the ball out like it's IZ then put it out to the other side where the counter hand off takes place ?

And TB behind or in front of the QB after hand off ? Maybe that is my issue. I had the TB going behind.

Sometimes when I'm in a hurry I don't explain myself the best on here. Apologize.

So it's Tailback counter from UC. TB jabs toward the IZ fake before coming back toward the play side. All happens behind Q. Q opens playside and steps to 6 o'clock (Texan has his Q reverse out on IZ so he would be different than me). Q shows the ball to the IZ fake side with both hands. Then Q brings the ball back across his body with two hands toward the playside, making the handoff. Q keeps his back to the defense through the play.

The Tailback is likely to screw up which elbow gets raised for the handoff since it's a little weird at first.

Here is a view of a couple of counters:

The last one is pure TB counter, Matt's description is accurate.

It was a 6A program with 4000 kids and the players were treated like a piece of meat.

I'm glad youth coaches never treated their players that way. ::)
