EDD's for RB
« on: August 08, 2014, 04:45:24 PM »
What are you guys doing as far as INDY's before going with the line and/or QB's ?

Jump Cuts
Spin moves

Anything to help me here. I am not a very knowledgeable RB coach at this point as far as the little things. Thanks.

Every day 10 minutes

NFL HSPD RB drills:
"When a coach said hes going back to fundamentals it usually follows...I just got my butt kicked" - random

"Some athletes have division dreams and jv work ethic" - random

you had asked for individual drill for running backs, correct? The ladder is a rope or strap ladder that is laid on ground and spiked down. Look on youtube for ladder drills. The idea is to quicken the feet of your players by exercising the quickfire muscles. We have our whole team doing the ladder drills, everyday.

I just find it weird how "double down", a term from casino blackjack, has displaced "double up" in the past 15 yrs. or so, when in most contexts "double up" would be more appropriate.  I only hear "double up" any more in Jerry Hickey's radio ads for his dietary supplements.

sweep drill.  its what it sounds like.  FB leads RB on a sweep.  FB gets used to the RB setting up the CB with a quick inside move to influence the CB and having the FB get outside on that CB.

BALL SECURITY...BALL SECURITY...BALL SECURITY

Texas balance drill
Ball wrestling
One foot in the hole (bags)
Two feet in the hole (bags)
Jump cuts to "blaster" = 2 kids hit upper part of runner with shields, 2 hit legs of runner with shields
Lead blocking
Then we work on timing of toss, counter and trap

Sorry, Vince, I must require that you post links to video of said drills or give descriptions like you did for your Blaster.   ;)  Help us brothers out!
