Hawkeyes using Mountjoy's offense?
« on: November 08, 2015, 11:41:46 AM »
Iowa is using almost the exact same offense that Coach Mountjoy has posted here on dumcoach.  Same formations, lots of two tight ends with the roving H.  Run game is inside zone, outside zone, and power.  They use waggles and smoke passes that he has posted as well.

Overall, a good team to study.  About the most fundamentally sound team in the country.  Their defense is a 4-3 over with limited blitzing.  They do not miss many tackles or give up big plays.  They do not blow many assignments.

It's pretty cool to see all those attachments in action on Saturdays.  I'm hoping they keep winning, they were 500-1 to win the national champion before the season on bovada so I put the last $10 I had in my account on them.

From what I remember isn't it basically Gibb's east coast offense?

Yes....the Iowa coaches have said that is where their offense came from as well.

If you check out Coach Mountjoy's check with me system on this site you can see that Iowa is using the same system.  I have watched all of their games this season and most of their games the past three seasons and they always run inside zone to the white side.  They often change the direction of the play while in their two tight end (ace) formation.  When i see this i usually rewind the play and have noticed inside zone has always been run at the one technique.  I have yet to see it ran to the red side (3 tech).  It may have been at some point, but I have not seen it.  Which is what Coach Mountjoy advocates inside zone to the white side and outside zone to the red side.

The Single Back Offense has been around a while!  Go back to the 70's and 80's with Joe Gibbs!

Coach Mountjoy is a disciple of the Single Back Offense so yes indeed he can predict!  Bill is able to say I told you so!    ;)

Sorry but no. I'll take the high road and leave it at that.

More so that he consults 4 proteams and a few colleges, specifically iowa.

On his email chain there's 5 "@nfl.com" emails

Bill is really giving of his time. If you look at his old posts his phone number is on there. Best way to get info is to give him a call.

Usually 1-3 a week... his recent stuff has been gold.

Biggest piece missing here is his thoughts on using prostate vs an 8 man box ...simple and not overly complicated to implement
