Blocking Gunners
« on: June 30, 2010, 09:38:56 AM »
I'm looking for any tips in regard to blocking gunners on punt return. My guys, in the past, have often lost the gunner, allowing him to be a free coverage man. Any thoughts ?

depends on the defense and the punt return you run, easy answer is have the corner/gunner blocker guy align inside leverage, butt to the ball slightly angled, this way the gunner cannot get an inside release then have the corner play bump and run down the side line trying to get the gunner to get out of bounds, once out of bounds he cannot be first to touch the ball carrier.  See the dc 4-3 download and look up bump and run in there its that very technique i use
