I'd say the best shoulder pads for mobility are ones that fit properly.

I inherited some oversized used ones for my son last season.  Spent too much $ on everything else.  Going to get him something better this year.  I can go to Dick's or Academy and try on what they have, but they seem to typically only carry a couple models.  I think I can find something better online, but don't really know what to get.

I dont pay much attention since I don't have kids that play but the z-cools seem popular

I saw those.  They look intimidating.  They must be new because the only review I could find was this:  http://www.sportsunlimitedinc.com/xenith-xflexion-fly-youth-football-shoulder-pads.html

They are brand new for youth.  I think they were out the last few years with adults.  This is the first year they have had them for youth.

I love the Xenith Helmets, they are the only ones that fit my son like a glove.  No air bs that they can let in and out on their own.  No real way for the kids to adjust to where they are too lose etc..  I like the idea and concept behind the shoulder pads having the same protection (shock absorbers) in between the plates of the shoulder pads.

Ronnie,

Check out Gregory's in MWC off of 29th and Epperly.  They probably won't have all their football stuff out until June as they still mostly have baseball out.

For selection and quality of gear or specific items (Non box store stuff) I always go there.  For basic stuff, Academy or Dicks is fine.

In season, they are one of the best around for football or baseball equip.

Thanks!  I work 5 minutes from that area.  I'll check it out!
