Single wing in 9 man football
« on: January 18, 2018, 10:55:25 AM »
Hi there, I'm James and coach a 9 man football team for 15-19 year olds in Australia.

I've been looking at trying to install the single wing. I've never run it before and I'm wondering how successful people have been in the past running this in 9 man football.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if you know where I could find a 9 man playbook to view.

Thank you

We ran it several years in a full contact flag league- with 9 players

We got rid of one lineman- so we were balanced line
We got rid of our Fullback- the 2 back- so you have a QB, Blocking Back and Wing

We pulled the backside guard and wedged on the center
Worked for us
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

Hate to threadjack, but I have to ask, Dave. Is this the one with the soft shoulder pads and the soft helmet-like thing (similar to the one you see some rugby players wearing)?

Ok thank you.

I've been trying to get as much information about it as possible. We run with 3 linemen, qb and 5 skill players. So it sounds like it'll work just fine.

It is full contact with full gear. So not a flag style or anything

Done it for multiple years. Best way I have found is unbalanced, LG-C-RG-RT-TE. The backfield all the same as usual.
