http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/ny-giants-justin-tuck-calls-offensive-line-nfc-wild-card-playoff-opponent-atlanta-falcons-dirtbags-article-1.1000036

“You watch film of Atlanta’s O-line and they’re 20, 30 yards down the field cutting guys,” said Lions defensive end Cliff Avril. “You’re running toward the pile and they’re trying to clean you up.”

I love that.

I guess defenders are just running toward the pile so they can hang out with their friends and that sort of thing.

Paul Boudreau's 2011 C.O.O.L. Clinic talk was huge for me.  He spoke at C.O.O.L. in 2015, too.  He coached that Falcons line and is with the Rams now.

Honestly i think its what best suites your scheme and what style fits  best i see value in all post for me its execute your assignment to the best of your ability and get it done if you do your job we will be successful if you don't we struggle. The teams that are successful are the teams that execute the majority of the time.

I'm reporting this to the moderator.

We should be able to flag stuff for removal, like they do on craigslist.
Seriously, you don't think an offense can be designed that hardly ever needs a single block to be held more than 1 sec. on a running play?

1 sec. is a long time in football.  You really need mastery of a blocker over a potential tackler only for the brief period that tackler has a shot at the runner.  If the blocker starts contact w the opponent long before that, it means the runner's far away.  That occurs in stalk blocking -- which is why I don't like stalk blocking -- and it occurs when you need back side protection on a slow-developing play -- which is why I don't like slow-developing plays.

Pass protection's a different story & a different technique.

No, you cant. And I'd explain why, but it would require me explaining the entire game of football, which I really don't have time for.

Bob, I would really like to see video of your offense. Maybe you count your seconds longer.

Pop

Thanks for sharing. #9 is my favorite clip.  :)

Attitude !  ;)

Thats what coaches that haven't given the Beast a try yet need to understand. Its a flippin' ugly Offense until the Defense sees it live. Then its a most beautiful thing for sure.

I always like it when you hear an opposing parent yell out....

Come ON Coach....its one play !!!! We can stop ONE PLAY !!!!

Have you been running it long? Looks good. What has surprised me is that I have run it 4 or 5 times vs a common Coach over a long period of time.....and the results never change.

Im also surprised I dont see more teams run it. We had a team last Fall show up running the Beast against us....after they scouted us. They did pretty well too.  >:(

Mahonz,

It's been our mmp offense for 2 years now. We open every game with it to try and set the tone. It's worked well for us.

What I noticed is we will almost always saw a Zero NG. Our rule is gap on LB.....so our line would break up alot between our C and LG. Something I'll be playing around with next year is taking advantage of that and sending our closest blocking back up through that A gap as lead blocker for our ball carrier......run it more as a counter type play. Either way, it'll be part of us again this year.

We also had 1 team that ran a beast variation on us. This team blew through everyone on their way to pop warner disney.

Both sets of bunched up players on the right are about 3 yds apart, Nasty x nasty.....ran sweep and power with BB kicking out anyone in the 1st lil nasty split. Was pretty hard to defend.

We ran something like that this season, put it in the playbook because I noticed the same break in the line the prior season.  No nose in this clip but we used this play to hit either A gap depending on what the Dline was doing.   The sniffer backs didn't do a great job here, needed to hit the hole with a little authority and actually block some LBs but the clip shows the idea behind what we were doing.
