Lol. Well I guess that makes my guarantee pretty crappy! I hadn't heard the news. Their gameplan was offensively was just beyond ridiculous tho. And that D getting worse w/ Suh is nuts.

I have not sat down and watched NFL sports entertainment in years.  I'll catch it in between commercials here and there.  It is pretty snoring... I mean boring.   I have not enjoyed the pro game since, ummm, Barry Sanders.  When he retired the game was already in a steep decline.  Today it is sports entertainment.  My beloved college game (well FBS) is getting tougher to watch by the year.  Thank goodness for the rest of the divisions, high school football and youth football.

Tonight's game had a pretty good example of a DB being good with his hands.

and I hear you-those are great staffs that put in 1000 man hours a week and i'm sure they are doing their best.  but at the same time, if you don't have a great drop back passer, you struggle with pass protection and you have a really good RB, it would seem a good idea to give him the ball quite a bit.  and often, that just doesn't happen.

Everybody in south Florida knew that was coming. I just don't understand why the extended him in the first place. I believe they owe him a bunch of money now. The Dolphins don't understand that what you need in this league to do well is a top qb. Maybe Tannehill is the answer. He has done some really good things but most of the time he is running for his life. They never seem to answer any of their issue with the draft od free agency. Picking up Suh was good but how did it help them as a team? How about spend all that money on some olinemen.

I heard something this morning I hadn't realized
They have spent so much draft picks (#1s) on linemen and they are not panning out. but the patriots have built an offensive line out of 4th and 5th rounders

They were saying the problems are above the coaches. I cant disagree. its like watching the Redskiins in Miami
Owner wants to make a statement and has over and over again.

I think Tannehill can be good but the reports of him getting picked off in practice and telling the scrubs "have fun with your practice squad paycheck" doesn't really help. coach has lost his team

just a mess of a team

Please note that I talked about some bad coaching as to not derail or highjack the thread ;)

Curious.

If Football isn't sports entertainment then what is it?

Coach DP nailed it. If you don't know what the team prepped for and their specific game plan then you can't really criticize from the couch.

I have had the opportunity to spend a lot of time on the water over the last 5-6 years with Mark Few of the Gonzaga Bulldogs. I have asked him a million different questions after games that I have watched him coach. Those coaches are looking for very specific things that, unless you were in the film room with him when he put his plan together, you wouldn't have a clue.

Meh. When the Dolphins have one of the best RB's in football, & they don't give him the ball...every game. Ya, you can critisize them, because ya, maybe their gameplan was to throw 50 times a game, but it was a dumb gameplan.

And the Dolphins fired him, so again, my critisism was obviously on point.

Most NFL coaches are there because of who they know, not what they know. I only put a very few NFL coaches on a pedestal. The rest aren't much different than a great juco or HS coach. Only difference is the NFL coach was likely born into an NFL  circle which allowed him a greater opportunity.

I agree that many of the NFL coaches are their because of who they know. That doesn't mean they don't acquire a huge amount of knowledge along the way and pick up a few pointers on how to coach.

Oh, no doubt. I'm just saying it's not like all of them are MIT geniuses, & we're just working w/ arithmetic & unable to question their decision making. ESPECIALLY when it comes to game clock management. Thats strictly a mathmatical thing. In fact someone who's quick w/ math but knows nothing about X's & O's, would be better equipped than an X & O genius who is not quick w/ math.

Field is 100 yards & contains 22 players. It's really not that complicated. The difference between a top HS coach & an avErage NFL coach is often no more than experience & opportunity. Thats not to say NFL coaches aren't too notch, just saying they're not above reproach.

I know a hs coach that probably has the kowledge to coach the NFL game. Made some huge mistakes in his life and paid for it with his career. He had an in and burned it down. Regrets it everyday.

Nauset High here in Massachusetts has a former pro coach this season.  Mike Sherman???  Not sure how they are doing this season.
