Mike,

I'm bummed. I always assumed that the Mahoney clan would always be around. Makes me wish I had come to more of your games and practices.

Me too.  :(

Mike:

Wisconsin isnt that Bad.  I hope nothing for the best for them!  I also feel the anguish and pain of a Dad and Grandpa.  Let me know where they are going and perhaps us old Grand farts can get together for A Bratwurst and a Beer  Ya Hey Dere!

GO PACK GO!   ;)

Will do...now seeing Lambo in person is more realistic than ever.  :)

It has to be bittersweet.  On one hand, your son, best friend and grandkids are moving away.  On the other hand, your son has grown into a great guy, father and coach.  Focus on the latter for now.

Visit a lot during the summer and have them visit you in the winter.

P

Im very happy for them but they are completely nuts IMHO. Neither have ever lived in a small town before. Gonna be a shock.

Some little tiny dot on the map called Baraboo about 50 miles north of Madison.

I did a clinic there in the last 2 years
Very nice people
They talk a little funny

Wisconsin is actually a nice place to live.

Lots of open space and nice people and affordable housing.    The pro stadiums are top notch and fun.    Going to a packers or brewers game is about a hundred times easier and more relaxing and comfortable than going to a bears, cubs or sox game (unless you live in wrigleyville).

The college is fun.   Lots of little schools too.     Lots of places to hunt and fish.   Great water parks for the kids.    Easy skiing or snowboarding access.   Lots of places to snowmobile.

D

I've heard its a very nice place to live overall and why they are doing this. Madison always makes the top 10 places to live on those kinds of lists. The curd cheese they bring home from vacation is pretty grubbin' too.

Yeah, I know it. I spent 20 years working in restaurants and our food distributor came out of there.

I don't know if it's a good thing, but this puts him within a couple of hours to Michael. If there's an IHOP in Baraboo, God know what could happen!

LOL....yah when the in laws come to town you have to chuckle at how they talk.

Dave that is amazing you've clinic'd there! The first thing Jr checked out was the Sports scene...I guess its pretty darn good in that they do have all of the major sports.

I guess that is where the Barnum Brothers started their famous circus....or was it the Ringlings? Anyway....that is what put Baraboo on the map.

Im amazed he found a really good job in his field ( Architecture) . I guess the whole area is hopping right now and really good help is hard to find. The Firm that hired him was ecstatic when he applied and have been VERY accommodating while he makes the move.

That is amazing....maybe this little town is not that far off the beaten path after-all. When I think small town I have visions of driving thru a place like Medicine Hat Utah.  ???

I guess there are a bunch of 10-12K population towns one after the other about 15 minutes apart starting from Madison all the way to the Dells. But its going to be a shock for the both of them.

My youngest Grandson....he is 6....cant grasp the fact they are moving there for good. He thinks he is going on vacation again.  :)

I can understand that. It's only about 15 minutes from the Dells. (We go there every Christmas break for a couple of days. Great fun in the winter!)

I kid about the cheese (unless you live near Bass Lake). It is some pretty country. And, it's getting to be on the edge of where people will commute from. Good for your son to get the job.

It dont get cold in Colorado?
I know the winters can get really cold in Vegas FYI...but Im from So Cal so my idea of very cold is anything around or below 50.
My wife wants same thing, raise kids in country, I lived in country, you have to drive an hour to get anywhere everywhere, ITS BOOOORING!
Taking a keg out to the fields for a high school party was fun the first 8 times ;)

Super S

The only small town I have ever lived in was Vail Colorado. I was a ski bum chasing skirts so it was anything but boring.  :)

I'd like to say I get what you are saying....but I dont.
