Coachesturf,

What Win-T plays would you install with a team of 11 year old kids?
I'd be careful with trying to install bucksweep. I ran it with 10-11 yo and with our 8th grade team. I ditched it with both teams. Neither could pull it off. Teaching the pulling was the least of my issues. Very easy. The problems occurred as teams kept slamming the A gaps. Timing would get disrupted. Pullers couldn't get out. It became a nightmare. Now, I have pulled very successfully from shotgun, like Auburn's B/S, just not under center.

If you want to run sweep, I would move the WB out so he can crack the DE. We always have DEs that are lined up outside the WB and a CB further out, so there are two defenders on the edge. Have the FB go for the widest defender, the CB. Have the PST and TE block G-D-B. The PSG pulls outside and turns up. Everyone else just reaches to secure their gap. Seems to work better.

For belly, I would also move the SE to a TE if you play a lot of 60 fronts. With a SE you will be outmanned on the edge. Having a TE allows you to block G-D-B with the PST and TE(X), and the PSG will be able to kick out the DE and HB to LBer.

Then you have a field day running Belly and Belly Down.  No one ever said it is easy.  That is why we work as coaches to make it work.  I know coaches running it with their Mighty-Mites and they are getting it done.  They coach their read ends off.  It is easy to just ditch it and say the kids can't pull it off.

Not a problem to block.  Wing's rule is to block the first free defender inside on the LOS.  With the DE outside the Wing then they are either running a 6 man front or a very foolish 5 man front.  So, the Wing blocks down on the DT.  The playside guard kicks out the DE, the backside guard seals up inside the hole and the backside tackle gets that pesky CB.  If that is the defense you would be facing then you would simply run 122/928 Gut which simply changes the responsibilities on of the guards.  Honestly, you give me that front then I am running 983/187 all day.  Easy blocking just by alignment.

For belly, I would also move the SE to a TE if you play a lot of 60 fronts. With a SE you will be outmanned on the edge. Having a TE allows you to block G-D-B with the PST and TE(X), and the PSG will be able to kick out the DE and HB to LBer.
What you are explaining is Belly Down.  You just keep running to the TE side anyway.

If a coach asked me what plays to run and explained that they say a lot of 60 fronts then I would tell them to add 132/938 Power.  You could run 132 and 982 all day and wreck the defense you explain with the wide DEs.  A team tried that against us years ago and our FB went over 200 yards and both HBs were over 70 yards each.  Running 132/938 also takes care of those pesky A gap blitzers.

Personally, I would run the Double Wing if I coached youth ball.

Those are our base plays.  Rarely ever need more than that, although we do have other stuff.

I didn't say that you couldn't. I just said to be careful. If you have 25 or 30 kids that you can choose from, that's great. But teams that I coach this year have only 16 players and there are only so many good athletes that can fill critical positions like pulling guards. Add in injuries, kids having to be rotated etc., and it becomes even more difficult. This year, I just didn't have the athletes to do it.
