This has been great, truly appreciate each response.

Yes, our league rules are a bit screwy but it's all I know so I'm used to it by now. Usually teams aren't as deep as ours (if you have more than 22 you automatically get split into two teams or bump into the most competitive division which is MP and not must play entire game).

I really like the idea of an active community that I can rely on and bounce ideas off of. I think the most difficult part of teaching this Powerbone system is that I don't know any other coaches running it. The plus has been that no team in our division runs it and we are the first they see of it.

I'm going to take the next few weeks and focus on reading up on DW, Wing T and SW. I'll see what clicks the best with my personal philosophy.

For some of you it seems like you can build continuity with a team/age group. I really envy that. Unfortunately since I'm the only HC in our program without a kid, I'll probably fill in the gaps each year with a new squad. I'd love for our program to develop more consistency...maybe I'll suggest that in the offseason.

I will tell you my org does not do that.  Coaches stay in an age group and the kids come up through.  The only HC's with kids in the program are at the two youngest levels.

There are pros and cons to either method.  Sure, taking a team up the age ladder allows you a lot of continuity and you can add things etc. and so forth.  On the other hand, the kids don't get exposed to different coaching, so they'll only know what that one staff has taught.  And what if your kid is stuck with a sh*tty coach?

Personally, I'll take our way - at least the kids are exposed to a lot of different styles and teaching methods, IMO they get a well-rounded football education, and our HC's at our oldest two levels are HS assistants so the kids feel like they're getting prepared to move up if that's what they want to do.

Don't abandon your Wishbone this far into the season.  Trust me.  I have made similar mistakes.  Instead, focus on improving blocking and change your plays somewhat.

One of the best teams in our league lines up in Wishbone.  They don't mess with the true wishbone misdirection plays.  They run QB Sweep.  QB is fastest kid on the team.  The 3 backs lead block.  Put your 3 most aggressive kids in those positions.  QB follows them.  Team that runs this in our league dominates everybody.

Next season, regroup and choose something that fits better.

Sorry if this was confusing. Not abandoning anything. Heck, wouldn't have anything to abandon to. Plus, we're a very competitive team with a winning record. Our defense is stifling and offense is doing enough to keep us in games.

I actually like wishbone. The off-tackle power, fullback dive and near back blast plays are working well for us. Plus we installed a Beast formation from the beginning of the season for when things get bogged down.

I just want to get a head start on choosing the system I will coach next year. Heck it could stay wishbone. I just want to look over the options and get all opinions before sticking with it.

Thanks. I've watched another video from that site (be the coach your O-Line deserves) and I'll purchase this one soon.

Gotcha!

If you have already dabbled in Beast, maybe look into running UBSW
