1. I think I got a link to this site from JJ's site when I did a search online for teaching O-linemen.

2. I can't just lurk, I have to be involved in the conversation.

3. Immediately. Can't post without being a member.

Coaches,

I have a few questions I would like to ask.

   1) How did you come across The Dumcoach Forum?
I must have Googled something "youth football" related, and happened upon a thread; I really cannot remember.

   2) What the reason you became a member (as opposed to remaining a guest)?
Simply put, I wanted to ask questions.  As I recall, membership was required in order to post.  DumCoach was also the first forum (of any kind) that I joined.

   3) How long did it take you to join after you first found the fourm?
A week?

Do right by Him, and you'll do right by them.

I lurked on InfoSports and joined the classic DC site when it was created

--This ^ is how I did it.  Infosports and the Delphi boards were the first ones I was aware of.  This was going back to around 2000-2002, I think(?)

1 - Found this site from a search for a youth football message board.

2 - I was new to coaching (was in my first year as an assistant coach) and had lots of questions.  Heck, I still have questions.   ;)

3 - Not totally positive, but it was probably the same day I found the site.

1. I was trying to find info on a youth 46 defense.
2. I had lots of questions, I was a bad coach and I knew it :)
3. About 5 minutes, asked a question and got beat about the head and shoulders  :P

searching for youth football in 2006/2007??
really searching for playbooks and wing T related info, and how to make it fit with the 9-10 yr old age group. Took a team that was 4-5, 3-7 and 4-5 passed 3 yrs and went undefeated winning league championship using a lot of Clarks DCWT... but ultimately lost in the superbowl vs another conferences league champion.

The following year my son stayed down most of the kids went up. Without DCWT the team was 2-6 or 3-6 I forgot, either way they didnt make the playoffs. Our team same yr again had good season ending 7-3 or 8-3.  2 yrs later my son moved up and so did I as a coach. my son was a heavy ten year old playing in a 11-12 yr old league some of the kids turning 13. This age group D-3 team hadn't won but a handful of games in as many years.  Again the HC wasn't sold on DCWT (he didn't know it) he said this is a D 3 team lets KISS!!!!so I could only run part of DCWT.  Again we went 11-1 but we lost in our own league championship to the same team that beat us during the season. We won more games in 1 year than this team ever has in its 7th yr of existence.

was the success a coincidence? I didn't think, we were not only competing against teams that tore us a new one the year before but we were beating them 24-18, 32-21, 28-22 were all score I can remember

Ah yes, the old "I'm smart enough to teach it, but the kids aren't smart enough to learn it" excuse.

I don't recall...better than zero it was, but that's okay, if I didn't want the help I wouldn't have asked the question! ;D

I remember it well.  I think ...ha ha.

Was back in the late 90s or maybe 2000.

I stumbled across infosports.net or whatever it was called back then. I think there was another place called "eteamz" and then the crowd at Delphi.

I really didn't know any of those guys (and to this day, while some " know" me as an internet personality, I have not MET most of the guys face to face)  -

I can recall reading a post that had to do with running the double wing from different formations.  A coach had said that he was an I formation guy.   Well, I jumped right into the discussion and blah blah blah, next thing I know I am getting a new @#$%^& torn into me by Wade for suggesting that its fine to keep the beloved I formation and run double wing plays from it- afterall, Markham had started that way!  Lol, oh some of the flame wars over the years on that board were pretty bad.

On the plus side, we also had some great discussions there over the years. Lots of funny chalk talks, particularly from DC (wilkins) who could score six points against anything you could throw at him, in one play ha ha.
We had a half million post thread on "how to teach a reach block" that I recall.
Pretty sure there were wild threads about teaching "mojo" there ...way back when before Potter was a rockstar with his approach to practice.

That site had many problems at times, I think they may have even started looking for contributions from members? coltscoach, fish, jb, mahonz,  Wilkins,  carbon, potter, Malcolm, jack Gregory, destefano was around some... cisar and a few others that are still around here pretty much dominated the discussions.  We all pretty much floated about the Delphi forums and infosports- I cant remember what happened to infosports and how we ended up with dumcoach but I think it had something to do with archiving posts.

Its hard to believe that I have never met potter, mahonz...yet I "talk" to these guys more than some of my own family members.

Oh, the other forum that many of us visited  was www.bucksweep.com before it changed to a new board. For awhile some of us hung out at "double wing for dummies" which is still out there but I don't think its moderated or supported much these days.   Hueys  xs and os wasn't around yet....several of us helped build that place before it got too big for its britches. (ie I put their link in all of my double wing illustrated emags)

Finished my first season and was not happy with how I coached-a disservice to the players really. It bothered me. Read John Reeds book, forget the title.  Talked about contrarian offenses etc with reference to Wing T, DW etc.   Did a search and DC was one of the sites I found.

Joined here before other sites due to the overall feel of the site. Great layout and coaches who are all about sharing and getting better no matter what O or D they run.  All forums have their own atmosphere-I like this one the best.

Once I decided on my offense I joined. I was in great need of information.   My regret is that our school started a football team 2 years ago-really enjoy coaching football.
