Congrats on the change. Is it working out for you? Nice to see you back.

10-4.  I love it.  I started life as a computer programmer, but changed to sales when I got out of the Air Force.  I was to hyper to stay locked in a lab all day in my younger days... young dum and full of myself.  But now that I have grown older and slower, I am enjoying the lab and technical work.  This time, I just decided to go into hardware instead of software.   :)

Scott

Scott,

LOL.... I missed this the first time.  Only if I can adjust it in a lightning storm  :P

Anyways, Right now I am our Magnetic Sensing Unit (MSU) specialist.  It is basically a solid-state flux-gate compass using one 2-axis and one single-axis magnetometer.

j
PS.  You will find this funny.  In one of my tech magazines I was reading the other day, the guy designed a lightning direction detector for home use/fun....  it was basically an ADF...  :D

Tell ya what Jem.  This stuff is getting real serious these days.  Fly By Wire is hitting the Business Jet Sector Big Time. HUD Displays, 4 Redundant systems, All we have now is Processor Cards.  Shit ADF's are turning into ADC's now.    Lots of "Multi Function Displays (MFD's).

Sigh, stuffs changing so fast, I was just getting used to 4 Tube EFIS and now its multi window on each.  Think I'll stick to my Harley technology,  If it works why change!!  LOL   ;)

I think automobiles.. LOL

We have alot of what y'all are talking about coming out on cars with the drive by wire steer by wire.

Heck we were just informed this week that Mercedes is coming out with a cr that you will need a scan tool to unlock the electromagnetic lock on the drain plug just to change the oil.  ???

Im not I.T. or anything but when working on cars you gotta be part electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, I.T., and part crazy.

And I gotta teach this stuff   ::)

Real Estate Agent.  Been in Sales my whole life.... but fixing to change that  ;)

j

Haven't been around in a while because as I promised above... I changed my profession.  Now I am an avionics technician.  Nothing like a late life profession change that is 180 degrees from your previous life.  Fun stuff!

j
I have been in the avionics business for 25 yrs and I love it. I'm a QAE handling regulatory and Root cause investigations for Failed on install units.
