So for the second time in 3 years I'll be out of a job looking for work.

Long story short, I took a flier on my current job in 2015 because I knew the company, knew my boss, and knew some of the people in the HR department I'd be supervising.  It was a flier because frankly the job was at a lower level than I'd been at in my previous job.  Think of it as going from HC to AC.  I talked myself into it for that reason - people go from header to assistant and make it work, so why can't I?

Well, regardless about whether that thinking is valid or not overall, this time it didn't work for me.  I've been unhappy pretty much the entire time here, there's just nothing for me to do.  My boss finally came to the same conclusion, so I'm done here in 2 weeks.  I have been in FT job search for a few months now, hopefully will land something quickly.  They're treating me well, no complaints at all.  My boss and I still get along great - we were at a conference together in San Diego two weeks ago, and to be honest, it was kind of nice to have the whole thing out in the open so I could just talk to her as a peer like I did before I came to work here.  We probably hung out more than we would have if I wasn't leaving.

So, we'll see.  I'm in the mix with 5 companies right now at varying stages of the interviewing process.  If none of them come to fruition I might be screwed, because the market has really dried up in the last couple of weeks - nothing new being put out there at all.  The 5 opportunities I'm looking at would all be pretty good, just hoping I get lucky/don't screw it up.  Just need one, right?  Ugh.  I'll get unemployment, but that's not going to pay the bills for very long.

Ah, well, shit happens.  Too bad this place didn't work out - good company, good people.  Just not enough meat on the bone for me here.

I will keep my eyes peeled.  Are you looking to stay in the same industry?

HR yes.  Our industry, don't care.  People are people, I've been in a bunch of different industries.

Our mutual friend/your former coworker landed finally.

We should connect one of these days.

Wow, sorry for your loss, Coach. Must be devastating.

Thanks GP.  Its kinda like a kick in the Nuts that never quite subsides.  Yet there was this guy, we all know, who said anytime I can talk about my Boy is beneficial.  I agree with that assessment.  He was our Wild Child, one who pushed all the buttons and some twice.  Extremely critical of things, yet passionately loyal. He lived hard and fast, yet passed away as quietly in stark contrast.  We conversed often about the state of things and circumstance.  He struggled daily to maintain a status.  Ironically, the new fangled Insulin Pump was a real PIA for him.  About 2 months before his passing he said "Pop, one of these days I'm going to fall asleep and I wont wake up"  If just one Juvenile Diabetic can learn from this. If folks donate 1.00 to the JDRF maybe it will save a life and many more.  32 is way too young!  But that fact points out how much damage Diabetes can cause in a very short period of time!  Diagnosed at 7, dead at 32.  Even when you know the consequences and possibiities this disease effects everyone differently. IMHO its a short straw draw!

As my friend would say, today was a good day!

Thanks again GP.

Single guy with no kids. I'm a former Navy Nuke and current Engineer.

I just randomly got the itch one day to coach and now I can't imagine not coaching.

Like, ever.

So to update this...

There ain't a lot to update.

I'm still a vet, still an Engineer. I'm just further along in being a vet and have changed Engineer jobs. But now I've been to Glazier clinics, downloaded more than my share of coaching books and even met a DumCoach or two. So there's that.

I'm in the Navy and a former Nuke.

Six years. I did my A School in Orlando, Prototype in Charleston, then served aboard the Enterprise in Norfolk.

...and now I sell Air Conditioning.
