1st Round Playoffs Gameday
« on: October 10, 2018, 04:30:37 PM »
This saturday is the first round of playoffs. We come in as the #2 seed playing against the #7 seed. We've actually played and lost to these guys 25-7 earlier in the season when the effects of Hurricane Florence were tearing through our city (some of the hardest rain for a ten hour span I've ever been apart of) so half of my starters didn't show up that game and I was forced to play my minimum play players most of the game. They actually played great and the game was closer than the 25-7 score. The other team scored on a nice run on the final play of the game.

We've been preparing all week for this team and usually I make adjustments based on film, well while watching film all I see is my minimum play players making mistakes my starters wouldn't and I'm kind of trying to decide if I should even watch the film of this game because I'm sure the other team wasn't at their best with the weather also.

A few questions: Should I continue watching film of the game? If so, what should I be looking for because I've never dealt with a situation like this; where weather played such a huge role in a game where I doubt one team played as well as they should have and half of my team didn't show up.

Also.... any playoff game day advise? This is my first playoff game.

We're a 9u team. I'm head coach and call the offense

If weather and lineups played such a factor, I doubt you'll get little from the video except to see what formations and tells they have, in addition to who their go-to guys are.

Yep. Pretty much formations and tendencies (wideside, benchside, run on 1st and 10, pass on 2nd and short, etc.), and go-to guys.

When watching their defense, find the dudes who can tackle and find the dudes who can't. Block the dudes who can and run at the dudes who can't. Not trying to be glib. That's all I really care about watching the other team's defense.
