Parents are a little bit more responsible at the HS Level I believe. To some of our parents, these in particular, not so much from what Iíve gathered from them this year.....

High school?  What's that got to do with anything?  We started the Sunday night phone calls more than a decade ago, when I was coaching youth ball because of the surprise no-shows and late announcements of players & parents informing us of absences.  The phone calls pretty much eliminated any surprises.  I'm not saying you should do it; I'm saying what fixed your issues with our team.

Game 8 today vs a bigger more aggressive team we scrimmaged early on.

1st half they chewed up the clock and played keep away. We got 3 possessions in the 1st half. They just nickel and dimes us down field going up 24-8 at half. We left 2 TDs on the field with dropped passes. Had that talk with our guys at half, made some adjustments, felt good about how they took our halftime speech.

2nd half they tried to take away our single reciever from trips by playing some very unsound coverage on him basically triple teaming him, wow have never seen that at this age group or any age group for that matter. And even in triple teaming him, it was very unsound which allowed us to still throw to him in triple coverage, crazy I know but we were still able to throw to him. Our QB was dealing today!!! Missed on 3 passes all game, 2 were dropped for TDs. Our QB and WRs came out on a mission in the 2nd half and had zero drops and were clutch. We strayed away from our run game because our guy fumbled twice giving up 1. Told him that and had to move on. Midway through the 3rd and all through the 4th is still a blur, but after forcing 2 fumbles on subsequent possessions, our guy who fumbled twice got the call on trap, and redeemed himself punching it in to go ahead and as the last horn sounds, we prevail 28-24. Crazy game at the end. Guess that halftime speech fired them up and couldnít be more proud of our desire and fight in the 2nd half. Ran 1 in and threw 3 TDs all to our single WR. So glad to be a part of such a great game!!!! Canít remember a more exciting game to be a part of. We just got lucky. Parents praised us as coaches, but in a game like this, the kids definitely made us look good.

Bye week this coming week, playoff seeding should be out after next weekend last week of the regular season, then a full week of practice before our round 1 playoff game. Good to have time off, but damn near 3 weeks without a game scares the hell out of me.

Round 1 playoff game vs a team weíve played and beaten already is this Saturday. On film, they havenít changed a bit. Unless they wholesale scrapped their O and D for the playoffs, it should be more of the same.....4-3 c2 with either flexbone or 2x2 spread.

We get passed them, the road becomes much harder.....typical playoff push. Weíve added somethings people havenít seen yet on O.....BTW my DC quit on us last night.....so yeah, Iíll be running the show solo from here on out.

Lets do this.

Nice.  Nothing like teaching kids the right lessons.  ::)

Round 1 in the books 18-6 good guys

Mental mistakes plagued us all game. Wonít work out well next week if we play like this again. Weíve started slow pretty much all year....need to play our 1st complete game of the year next week if we are to win.

Film Monday with our coaches and prepare for round 2 is next.

Just thankful we can coach these kids up another week.

Round 2 vs the overall #2 seed was today.

We fumbled 6 times (all by the same kid)

We moved the ball all game anytime we wanted....till fumblitis kicked in. Funny thing is this kid hasnít put 1 on the carpet all year till today.

50-40 bad guys.

Glad I saw plenty of tears after the game....means we reached them as a staff and means they actually cared.

Until next year, it was fun once again to be back in the saddle.

No sir. Most moving onto HS next year, but some key pieces are returning, plus some great pieces moving up. Well piece something together Iím hoping. Kinda hard to fill this age group year after year.
