This play kind of sums up our team. Were pretty small, but were fast & a little crazy. This is what most plays look like when our starting D is in.

We took our 3rd loss in a row. We just can't score and when you go for it on 4th and a mile inside your own 20 yard line and don't get it, bad tings tend to happen. We gave up 18 or so yards on defensive off sides and the bad guy walked in for the winning score from what looked like the 1 inch line. Right now it is 100% a coaching issue. We have probably the most talented team in the league but we are only 4-3-1 with 3 losses in a row.
I am beyond frustrated at this point. These boys deserve better. The parents deserve better. Personally it is frustrating because we put in all the work during the week and then on game day the sometimes there, most often not HC runs everything and I just stand on the sidelines and send players in every once in a while(when I am not getting yelled at for sending in players by my HC). It sucks. We have a bye this week and then next week we play a cream puff that should help get our confidence back. Then comes the play offs where we will rematch most likely, one of the teams that beat us already once this season. We win one game and we qualify for the AAU national tourney.

Oh, I forgot to include our weekly trick play. You guys probably know it as magic boot, we call it Meatball. We run it off our version of DW power.

Unfortunately our QB didnt quite have the arm strength rolling left to hit it in stride. But, they still executed it nonetheless.

To me, the easy thing would be to just leave. I can't abandon the kids like that. I know I am having a positive impact on them. I know that because when I see them, even years after I last coached them, they come up to me and say, "Hey Coach. Or what's up Coach Chris?" That is why I coach. Yeah I want to win games and I love coaching, but I also do it because I know I can positively impact their lives. Do I want a better situation personally? Absolutely. We should be undefeated at this point but instead we are the 6th seed that will finish the regular season 5-3-1.

Good adjustment by the receiver.  Jake, why the choice to run it to the left with a right-handed QB?

I get that part of it Chris, but why not just find a header job?

Mostly cuz we only have power toss going to the right. lol.

These trick plays get very few reps & they have to work w/in blocking shemes already installed. He was able to make the throw in practice. Think the pressure kinda hurried him a bit. In hindsight, probably should have brought our TE over to give some added protection.

Hey, a least you have a reason and know what that reason is.  That's more than I can say for many.

It isn't that easy unfortunately. If people don't know you, you aren't going to get a header spot unless they are really desperate. I also have the limitations of having kids. I don't have the freedom to just go anywhere. I have to go to a place close enough for my son to play. He doesn't live with me full time so I have to find a place equal distance from my house and hers. He has 2 years max left of youth ball as he will be in the 8th grade next year. His county doesn't have Freshman ball, so he could easily play youth ball until he is 14.

--Agree, 100%.  But why don't they know you?  You've been coaching for a while.

--Yeah, you definitely have a handcuff on you, in that regard.  Good thing is, you still get to coach ball with your son.  Still, the patience you must have....

Its the only pass we have w/ him rolling left.

The last time we ran it in practice, the QB tossed to our HB, bounced off his helmet, landed right in my QBs hands in stride & he threw a perfect dime to the WR. lol. It was so seamless it looked like we designed it to bounced off the backs helmet.

Reminds me of the skip pass my HS coach put in.  QB would open to throw a quick screen out the the WR but we would skip the ball off the grass to him, like skipping a rock across a pond, backwards so it wasn't an incomplete pass.  WR would snatch it, turn and look to launch a deep one to a TE or someone sneaking behind the defense.  You had to put on the split second acting job of it being an incomplete pass.
