KYA Fall Football in Keller, TX 2018
« on: August 10, 2018, 11:38:38 AM »
Coach Whit and I draft our Fall Rams KYA Football Junior (9/10) team tonight.  We were hoping to get lucky with the number of teams so that would leave the two best running backs in the draft but the league added one more team this week and they were part of that team.  So, we are scrambling trying to find a tier 1 Tailbacks in the draft and its hard for them to magically appear.  :)  We should have a shot at 3 very good backs.

We should be fine but it is nice to have real speed at TB to get to the outside now and then.  More 3 yards and a cloud of dust.  Coach Whit loves the traditional I formation so I am sure he will be running downhill a ton in the I with some Beast thrown in for good measure.  I have the Defense this season which will get us back to our normal set up.  I prefer Defense and coaching the offensive line.  I love my Hogs since I was one so long myself as a pee wee.  Defense is my specialty so I am most comfortable as the DC.

Hopefully Lady Luck will be with us tonight at the Keller Police Community Room and add to our hours of player evaluations.  Good luck to everyone this season.  I will try to update after the draft over the weekend. Our fist practice will be Monday and Tuesday of this week and maybe a meet and greet on Sunday if the weather holds.

I have always wanted to be in a draft league. That would be awesome.

The draft and prep for draft is almost as fun as coaching the entire season.  I enjoy the player evals, draft prep and draft.  Very fun.

I really enjoy picking players and seeing them develop. It is done in baseball all the time if it is a rec league.

So you enjoy the fact that Billy was chosen 27th out of the 27 players who were available?  I wonder if Billy enjoys it as much as you?

Billy never knows when he was picked. This isn't the school yard, lol.

Damn, too bad this isn't the NFL. We're overran with RB's this season in all age groups.   Off the top of my head, we have six of them at the 9>10yr old level.  They run fast. They throw. They catch.  They have plenty of power. They slice. They dice. They don't rust in water.  They come with a 3yr warranty and a full money back guarantee.  If you can figure out a way to get a restraining order put out on their OC afterwards, I'd be more than willing to trade a few of them off to you for more O-linemen.  :D

M'kay...still don't see much attraction to little league draft day, but whatever floats your boat.  Just give me whatever players who want to come out there and lets roll.  For my first time, I'm coaching a girl in PeeWee football.  I had a girl on a middle school team I coached years ago, but she was built like (and had the temperment of) Warren Sapp.  This girl, on the other hand, is no Warren Sapp.  Doubt that I ever would have picked her, in a million years.  But she wants to be out there and is willing to work.  So she's good enough to play for me.

Just a thought but what’s wrong with putting a few of them on the line?  If they’re athletic enough to do all that then they should be athletic enough to block, even if it’s against bigger but less athletic opponent.

They have O-linemen. I just want more O-linemen.  Yeah, I'm being greedy.
