Meriden Raiders 8th grade (2018)
« on: August 19, 2018, 08:57:46 AM »
So today begins my jouney with this new group i took over 2-6 in 2017. We are scrimmaging a fellow DC member for 2nd year in a row so i will call it THE NORTHEAST DC BOWL 2 LOL.... My roster is at a solid 25 were 33% of my kids never played before until now and were truly a work in progress. We have all 4 base offensive series in offensively and our base defense with cover 1 and 3 and a couple blitzes and stunts. Should be a great look for my boy's and just want them to compete and execute i'm never hung up on winning or losing scrimmages just want a good showing as a whole and want my boys to get punched in the mouth and punch back and see what happens when the juice is pumping. I choose this scrimmage becasue there a modern offense team and a 4-4 team which are basically the schemes i'm a have to over come to get out of CT and take my crown back . It starts today the jouney to the State Title Game !!!!!!

Good luck! I actually hope both sides do well today. I speak to & personally know both HC's so I hope each does well.

I was at a jamboree at southington yesterday. Coverage and contain vs boots and misdirection was a huge issue for every team present from 14 u and down...also, schematic issues were obvious as teams using four man lines with very wide ends were soft off tackle. Pass protection appeared to be “ dude blocking” with little technique ie kick slide vs wider rushers.

Teams with big backs who obviously havent been weighed in punished poor tackling small secondary and lber kids who they far outweighed.

Tito - great work yesterday, my man. You run a class org wherever you go. They're lucky to have you in Meriden.

Was great work for both teams. Great film too. We both have a lot of kids brand new to football and it showed. Many of those kids on both sides have a lot of potential though and will progress with coaching.

Next year we'll have to get you guys out to Brooklyn!

Today at 4 pm we open up against the Waterbury Knights . Should be a test writ out the gate and have to play sharp and execute efficiently as were doing some different things out the Hybrid Wing this year . Defensively were still in Odd Stack Adopting the Georgia Military Way of doing things hanging hats our on C1 AND 3 with heavy pressures from a variety of places. Honestly i cant wait this was a 1-7 SW team that i was told couldnt run real schemes.

So major differences in 2018 are. We've canned wedge, trap, down and beast in favor of tight- mid- and wide zone with out changing a thing aiming point and mesh wise out of Hybrid Wing. My mpps are running I-Wing with a DUO PRINCIPAL as there core play were we can do a couple different things off 1 scheme. Were running some  option  because of a true dual threat qb i've been blessed with that can spin it as well. I've always been a sucker for option and finally got the sack to go thru with it lets see if i got the NUTS to call it as we've worked on it every offensive day. Option  is also serving as my alternative flank play to compliment buck until we get jet game ready. Which it is in but decided to devote more indy and group time to MY OLM getitng communication, combos, double teams and slip blocks write having a true understanding of how gap schemes and zone schemes compliment each other and go hand in hand. I know folks a think im crazy but i totally did my homework and put alot of thought  time and effort into modfying blocking schemes still devoloping more carry over eliminating time intensive play's still keeping Delaware's backfield patterns. So all we have in for today is Buck- Power -Ctr- IZ -OZ so 4 TOTAL Run Schemes (Because Pwr Ctr same scheme in my eyes) along with a boot protection and an aggressive protection  that hinges on backside. We've alsways committed 2 of our 3 backs into the protection so we can get the ball deep. Took a page out of Joe Bugel and Joe Gibbs practice and team philosphy and WILL BE #HYBRIDWINGINGIT#.  #2018 -EVOLUTION ECO/DELAWARE#
