If your talent was such that 5-3 would be a good record, and you ended up 6-2, I don't think you'd be venting as much.

Or, he could be like me and vent, regardless.

If you guys win you should rematch the team that beat you guys for the true Championship.

I'd be all for that and so would they.

CHAMPIONSHIP BOWL GAME

Both teams move the ball and scores some points in the first half.

We lead at the break 19-12 on 2 TD's, 2 PAT kicks and one 37 yard FG. They score 2 TD's and have two PAT Kicks blocked.

Then the Defenses take over.

They have 4th and goal on our 7....QB scrambles back to our 35...escapes....throws on the run and scores with 1:13 left in the game.

Then we block the kick for the 3rd time...get the on side kick and run out the clock to win 19-18.

This opponent simply cannot beat our team. Its like watching a movie every time we play because its nail biting close and ends in ridiculous fashion.

Im feeling a little spoiled right now.....this latest run from 2nd thru the 8th grade....

Never missed the playoffs
2012 Fall Champs
2014 Spring Champs
2016 Fall Runner Up Champs ( gave up the winning TD with 2.5 seconds left in the game )
2017 Spring Champs
2017 Fall Champs
2018 Spring Champs*

We start over with a brand new team of Super Smurfs in August. I would be happy if they accomplished half of what these kids did.

I'd like to thank 3 coaches on this Forum for helping me and Lar out over the years. Your fingerprints are all over this special run. More than you will ever know.

Clark for teaching us how to play the odds on Defense. Every year we have a top tier Defense and they are nasty.
Michael for turning us on to another way of thinking on Offense. This crazy shit works Fellas.
And Potter for continually pushing Mojo to the very edge and reminding us to nut up and just do it every minute of every day from day one to day 101 every season. Its fucking exhausting but worth it.

Although we only won by one point tonight....we kicked the shit out of this team and it felt great.  8)

* The opponent by Rule should have been eliminated from post season Competition due to their inability to be graded out as a C or higher by the Officials for Sportsmanship. But the League decided to ignore their own Rule. We also got in on a technicality created by the League. So this Championship although most certainly earned on the field by the kids tonight....deserves an asterisk.  The Adults once again are ruining youth sports.

Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. This team petitioned the league to give us the #2 seed based on winning percentage. They really (thought they) wanted to play us in the bowl game.

Know what? Fug the adults. There was a parent fight after the game and the cops showed up. Credit goes to the kids on both sides for playing one hell of a game. It's 1:30am and I have to get up in 3 and a half hours. I'll post my thoughts on the season later.

Joe

I savored every moment. Same League, same record, same seeding, same weather, same atmosphere, same field, same time, same sideline, same opponent, same outcome as the last game I coached with my son.

My son started this Spring team with 4 coaches and 11 Players. I finished this team for him with 11 coaches and 34 Players.

Now Im at a crossroads. Every Spring and every Fall I have been surrounded by some very special parents who knew and loved my son. They fed me without knowing at the right moments with their kindness and hugs. They kept his memory alive for me in droves.

Now they will all scatter like dust in the wind and move on. I hope I can as well. Post game was rough. The Banquet is going to be brutal.

The win didn't mean much. Secondary. Been there done that. Somehow for me it was the end of something I had been sharing with my own son since 1987. If I didn't have another grandson that wanted to play next year....I'd walk away today but football has always been a family thing for me so I need to finish out.

My Daughter was on our sideline last night. She is already freaking out that her son is going to play because of all the negative press our game is getting. Last night was not helpful in that regard. These two teams hate each others guts and hit to hurt and didn't disappoint. She was now close enough to really live it. Afterwards I assured her that her precious little snowflake is going to be just fine.  :)

Had a very good friend tell me after my sons Memorial....

Mike, you need to keep coaching or Keenan will have died....twice.

He was correct.

Congrats Mike.

Go get em next year. Give your grandson memories and teachings he will never forget.

Any parents have younger kids/players that will be playing next year.

When I went for my second round I had 3 parents that I had coached their older kids bring their young ones for me to coach. They were happy, as well as I, that I got to coach the younger siblings as well

I broke down hard last night. It started when I saw Jason tearing up, which reminded me that the ride was over with these boys. Then, I thought of Keenan and had to walk away because I couldn't hold back the tears. I hope he is proud of us. Then again, Keenan always had a way of being proud of me, but at the same time letting me know that he still needed more, that I wasn't done yet.

One for sure. This older brother was one of the kids caught up in last season's school break in. Having him come out to help coach his younger brother will be a great experience for him.
