Very confusing to a D. I'm wondering if that lead to their ineptitude's.

It's tempting to think that, but ANY successful defense does at least one thing well, even if it's by selling out to be good at that one thing. This defense just "meh'd" it's way to giving up 52 points.15 yard safeties that do NOTHING. LB's at 5 yards who back pedal and still give up every pass we throw at them. Or, they blitz from 5 yards and cross the LOS a second after the ball is away, or after the RB has already gained 3 yards. Watch their LBs. Heels at 5, 3 backward shuffle steps, then stand flat footed while the world revolves around them. Watch #24, their stud RB playing LB on Jayden's deep post for a TD.

They're d-linemen were actually pretty good, which is more sad than anything.

I digress. G did very well all week and very well today.

Game 4 was snowed out. No surprise there. Rescheduled for today, but opponent can't make it. Maybe Wednesday?

Scout showed that this team was trying to run the DW. FB at 5 yards. WB motions to 8 yards (not joking). GOD on the play side and pulled one guard. So I was able to install my beloved DTDW for scout offense. I don't think I'll ever go back to it. That's a LOT of work to get 3 yards, then try to be happy about it.  :P

On the upside, we allowed the defense to shore up some soft areas. I doubt this team will get a rushing first down on us unless it's a QB scramble. They do have a spread package and like to throw it around, but it doesn't look good for them. There are monsters lurking in our secondary.

Bored out of my skull. Playing 2 hockey games, then watching the Avalanche on DVR.

I got a kick out of you in scout running their bastard version for a spell.... then fixing it !

But I have to agree...the DTDW is just too much work.

GAME FIVE ( Game 4 was snowed out and yet to be re-scheduled. )

The 18 game Spring winning streak is over.

Tough rival loaded with size and speed ran Beast at us 100% and took us down 12-6.

Something about that Beast. The only game we lost last Fall....a 100% Beast team took us down 12-6.

Our downfall today....serious issues at LB'r and a QB that should never play QB again. Our super star JACK that was out of town so there is that. Then one of our LB'rs gets hurt forcing a DB to fill in.....from here they were just not tight enough to bring down the Beast.

Our QB?....we practiced 6 plays from our Empty package for two hours on air this week over and over and over again ....dialing in the timing and spacing knowing we would have a tough go running at this team. He went 1-12  in Empty missing every receiver by yards. Coverage was generally tight but with some separation.... yet he missed an easy wide open one for a TD in the 4th Q.  Kid is everything you want physically in a QB....he has a long way to go mentally. Needs a QB whisperer like Joe in his ear for two years when he gets to HS and he will be spectacular....but way too streaky now. He completed a dozen passed game one...none the week after...a dozen last week....one today.

Really liking this O that Lar invented. Its the real deal. Learn a little bit more about the intricacies each week. The Nuclear Beast is a fitting name.

Oh well....movin' on. Fun game. Rocking crowd....two undefeated Titans going at it. Kinda wish it was this way every week. I didn't feel very sharp today and suggested a few things that backfired. Winning easy every week is not good for any of us as coaches. Too much like an Easy Button.  We didn't even have any scout film on this team. Very odd for us.

We won the turnover battle 1-0 on an onside kick. The Mojo score for the season remains....0-0. Some though kids in this  League. Makes sense though....they are all football geeks to the core. Wussies are all out playing round ball right now.  :)

Back to Easy next week....unfortunately.

3-1  :-\

Y'know....the thing about the Double Wing is, it's not QB-dependent...

Neither is our Offense really. But we have a package just for the pure passing game that is generally quite good and worth the time given. We have 3 fairly talented kids that can play the position and a boatload of pretty good receivers. I now believe we went with the wrong QB. If he has an average day today....we win this game.

Basically....I've been Paxton Lynch'd ! Looks the part....lacks the brains.

My next thought is....since we have no real shot at the Championship Bowl Game now....shuffle the talent. 80% of the players on D go to the O and 80% of the players on O go to the D. Now us coaches can start all over again and keep the players engaged and win the runner up Bowl Game.  Our next 3 games are vs rather poor teams so I will be bored to tears in....well....about an hour from now.  :P

For us Spring has always been about experimenting so lets do something Im sure no other two platoon team has ever done mid season. Our opponent in the Bowl Game will be a worthy one so we should be dialed in by then.

It will be like coaching two completely different teams in one season.  :)

Hate to say I told ya so.  Just in case we get gun shy on this, I overheard him say I cant get it done when no one is blocking for me. That was before his catastrophic knee/ankle injury.

LOL.  I spoke to G about about going with Twix the rest of the way after the game. Move Moll to LB'r and fire TJ.

That....actually improves the team immediately. A tough loss should open our eyes. G is still struggling with our system. I told him no worries and I get it...when you are in love nothing much else matters ! He turned all red....dude is in love and I couldn't be happier for him.

I see a wedding in our future.  :)

I think we should shuffle all the talent just for the challenge. Season is lost anyway so lets make things fresh again for the kids. Most all of them can play both ways so.....

Just watched a quarter and a half of film from Saturday. Nothing to complain about offensively except for our QB, who it looks like will no longer be our QB. I've got some thinking to do about Mega Splits. I can't see ever getting away from it, but for the first time, we ran up against big men who can play in space. On one play, our C cut their NT to the ground. The kid didn't even get his hands down to brace his fall. He hit like a lawn dart . . . then got up and made the tackle.  ???

D-ends played like Von Miller. Doing all the wrong things, but didn't matter because they were athletic enough to recover and make plays. LBs were playing right through our blocking backs.

After watching the film, I'm very proud of the kids for fighting hard to the very last play. We did well to lose 12-6. I thought we were loaded, but damn.

No matter how good you think you are....around the next corner is a team that's better. Had a nice conversation with Coach Mark afterwards. Im happy for him. He is good people. Said he went all in on the Beast this Spring after watching us the last 10 seasons or so. Wise move.

Wise move.

As bad as it is to only score 6 points, I don't consider scoring 12 as "successful".  Also, consider that we didn't do anything special to stop Beast, so we were still sound everywhere else. If he doesn't come up with a counter to the Colts' "all in to stop Beast" defense, he might regret it.

Huh?  We were in mad scramble redo mode at the Half.  :P

And the kids pulled it off.

Ahh. Didn't look any different to me other than some personnel changes. Nothing compared to how the Colts and Wheatridge play Beast.

We never cut.

I let my C and G's cut if they are over matched. This is the first time it hasn't worked like a charm, although it did slow down their zero tech for a play or two.
