My bad.  I assumed "asu39" was from AZ .  He said he's representing West which means he's the Garden Grove Bulldogs.  They're in the final game vs Brick City Lions (Unlimited).

Good luck, coach!

It's a reference to his name.  Andrew, what's the "39" for?

When I saw that team at the scrimmages I legit thought they were a varsity team. One of the biggest squads iíve ever seen.
They got a shot to bring home the hardware for sure.
Welp.

It was my number in high school  ;D.

Just to clarify, it's not my team playing today but a team from our league. Bunch a great kids on that squad so I'm really happy for them.

Welp.

Yep. Turnovers are a killer. Three in the first half put them behind on the scoreboard, and behind in MPR. Hard to recover from that.

Depending on how many you have, MPRs can be just as bad as turn overs in PW. We don't have to worry about MPR in AAU.

True, but in PW everyone has MPRs, so it's usually not as much of a difficulty, as long as you have a strategic way of coaching and playing them. Turnovers literally limit your possessions, limit your scoring opportunities, and provide extra possessions and scoring opportunities for your opponent.
That's much more of an immediate impact. Not to mention you will then tend to have to play those MPRs more defensive plays.

MPR strategy is huge.  Come playoffs we also risk being limited by our MPRs, so we make it a point to invest in them.

I'm in the minority, but as a rule I generally don't play MPRs on offense.  I'd rather give up 6 points than get a kid earholed because some MPR whiffed a block.

Football is unforgiving that way.  Someone else pays the price for your daydreaming.

Btw... if yall didn't see, canepb won PW Super Bowl for second year in a row.  His boys steamrolled the JV division.

Think he's going for the three-peat next season.   8)

Congrats!

Iím with you on that one. In my experience itís been much easier to coach a kid up to play defense rather than offense. Theyíre usually easier to hide there as well.
